SUMMARY:Managing Erosion Along Waterways
DESCRIPTION:If you live in Portland or Scappoose near a waterway (river or canal\, e.g.)\, you’re invited to join us for a valuable workshop on how to prevent erosion of your riverbanks! \nThis winter we’ve experienced some of the heaviest rainfall on record in the greater Portland area and you’ve probably already seen a lot of soil erosion. Some landowners in Portland and Scappoose have seen slope failures and landslides and streambank sloughing. \nLearn why and how erosion happens and what you can do to protect your land! \nSpeakers will include a geomorphologist from the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife\, a streamside restoration specialist from your local Soil & Water Conservation District\, and someone from your local watershed council. \nWorkshop is from 7pm-9pm. Refreshments will be served. \nPlease RSVP to Carolyn; carolyn@wmswcd.org
