Restoration Projects Manager
Emily Martin joined the Scappoose Bay Watershed Council in July 2020 on a part-time basis to assist with public outreach and education for the Raymond’s Creek Restoration project. In December 2020, she took on the role of Restoration Projects Manager which includes managing our Native Plant Nursery and our restoration projects. Both areas will benefit from her passion for protecting habitat and natural resources, using land stewardship and environmental education. A native of California, Emily completed her Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management in December 2015 at Humboldt State University. Since she graduated she has held a variety of positions including, but not limited to working as a field technician for the University of Nevada Reno, as a groundsman for a local tree care company in Corvallis Oregon, and as a biological science technician for the USDA-APHIS-Wildlife Service. Her interest in habitat restoration was developed during her time in Hawaii where she worked as a habitat restoration for a native plant nursery called Hui Ku Ma Oli Ola Native Hawaiian Plant Specialists. After In 2019 she returned to Oregon and began pursuing work within the habitat restoration and ecosystem mitigation field as a habitat restoration specialist. An opportunity to work as a technical trainer led her to discover her innate passion for environmental education and public outreach. When she is not working, Emily spends much of her spare time drawing and painting. Her other interests include yoga, Pilates, running and writing articles.
