The Spring Sale is coming soon!
Nursery Sale – Saturday, April 15, 9am-3pm!
(more info and Plant List below)

The SBWC Native Plant Center has one of the region’s largest selections of native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, ferns and sedges.  Plants are propagated by volunteers for the Council’s habitat restoration projects and public sale; these sales help finance the greenhouse operation.  The nursery is usually open Thursday mornings (a regular schedule for volunteers!), but visits can be arranged on other days and times; please call the Council office at 503-397-7904.

Nursery

In partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Watershed Council has offered native trees and shrubs to landowners interested in enhancing natural areas on their property. This successful program has created goodwill in the community and led to the development of other restoration projects through connections with property owners.

In order to support this program and to provide hands-on opportunities for schools, the Watershed Council developed native plant nurseries at local high schools. Scappoose High School and the Columbia River Youth Corps of St. Helens have committed to the project. The Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board (OWEB) and BLM provided funding to construct the nurseries. The Watershed Council is working with students, and community volunteers to keep the nurseries running.

A portion of plants grown at the nurseries are provided to landowners to enhance their properties, and most of the rest of the plants go to restoration projects along creeks and wetlands. Some plants are also offered for sale in the spring and fall in order to help support the program and provide a source of native plants for gardeners.

All plants propagated at the nursery are indigenous to Oregon and most are indigenous to the watershed.  Seeds and cuttings are collected from all over the watershed to provide a diverse genetic stock.  For a list of plants available for the upcoming fall or spring sale, please check out our Plant Sale page.

Plant Availability List, Spring 2017

A list of available plants and prices is shown above (click to view larger or save). We recommend using the form to pick out plants that will be suitable for your site’s conditions and determine the quantities needed to help facilitate picking out plants the day of the sale. There is space on the form to write-in quantities for the desired plant species. We will not be conducting pre-orders for the sale but hope the availability list will provide you the opportunity to plan your planting project in advance of the sale. Of course, we are more than happy to discuss plant needs the day of the sale (or before), and help you pick out the right plant for your yard, landscape, or natural area. Feel free to contact Amber with any questions at 503-397-7904, or amber@scappoosebay-wc.org.

Location

The nursery is located at the back of Scappoose High School, behind the shop building, next to the baseball fields. From Highway 30: pass the main part of the school, through the first stop sign, and turn right into the lower parking lot. Signs will be placed off the highway and High School Way to help direct. See map.
