Purple Loosestrife Kayaking Event

August 26 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Come kayak for a cause!

Join the Scappoose Bay Watershed Council (SBWC) to pull invasive Purple Loosestrife in the Scappoose Bay on August 26th from 10 am to 1 pm. This event will start at SBWC’s office where we will learn about Purple Loosestrife and other aquatic invasive plant species as well as native plant species we will see in the Bay. This event will consist of kayaking to the pulling site, exiting kayaks onto a small muddy island, pulling and/or cutting large plants, and then re-entering the kayaks from shore. The island we will be on is muddy and unstable – we highly recommend wearing rain boots or boots with ankle support and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, you will get muddy!

Kayaks, and lifejackets will be provided by Next Adventure Scappoose Bay.
